It’s here, in Bougival, where parisians used to come to have fun (boating and bathing in the Seine) in the 19th century. We can feel the original atmosphere that has directly inspired Impressionist painters.
Renoir, Manet, Sysley and Pissaro have stayed in Bougival and all along this part of the Seine up to Chatou. A lot of very famous paintings have been made here like the "Déjeuner des canotiers" at the Maison Fournaise. |
